 Great crockpot! September 6, 2010

My old crockpot finally died and I needed to get a new one. I read lots of reviews and chose this one based on the good feedback it had gotten. I love the programmable settings and timer this one has on it (my old one was only high/low/warm with programmable settings). It is much nicer looking than my old one and I like that the lid can be locked on for easy moving. Two thumbs up!

I've only cooked with it 2 times, so take this for what its worth.. I cooked 2 3lb beef roasts for 8.5hrs on the low setting. They turned out amazing!
Pros:
Nice looking, good quality pot. The directions are vague, but pretty straight forward (its a crock pot not a spaceship).
Its having the option to cook 3 different ways. (timer, manual, probe)
Cons:
I dont like how the probe cannot be used on the program setting. It would be nice to know the temp of the meat even when im cooking with the timer.
The locks for the top are in a bad location and interfere with the pot's handles. They should be put on the sides instead.

I have had this Hamilton Beach slow cooker for over 8 months now. I can verify that it is reliable, no problems so far after over 30+ uses. Even talked my relatives into getting one. Unfortunately I paid $49.99 for it at Wal-Mart, now it is $31.88 (better than Amazon's).
Like I said, I have been able to utilize all of it's features. I find the lid clamps to be extremely convenient and intuitive. Also, the food termometer works great! I've used it twice now and it has worked wonderfully!
Dishes that I have cooked so far: babyback ribs (2 different recipes), country ribs/saurkraut/red potatoes, homemade clam chowder, mac & cheese, turkey, pot roast/potatoes/carrots/onions, soups, several chilis, etc. All turned out great. Go to allrecipes and southernfood for 1000s of free recipes. You can pretty much cook anything in it.

I have only used this new crock pot a few times, but so far it has been great. I love the way it seals if I have to transport it and the auto warm has been a life saver.
